Warhounds Missions and Progression
Check public mission types, plan around the developer’s 25–40 minute target, and match a missing mission or stalled recon to the released fix notes.

What the campaign promises
Steam describes a full story-driven campaign in an alternate-future Africa where player decisions affect missions, gear and allies. The official site places the setting in East Africa in 2035 and frames the player as commander of the Warhounds. This page stays away from plot turns and treats the in-game briefing as the authority.
Mission types confirmed by public achievements
Steam’s achievement descriptions name Recon, Sweep, Subversion, Antiterror, Capture, Escort, Joint Operation and Rescue missions. They also refer to covert missions, UAV reconnaissance, allied squads and missions completed by launching missiles. These labels prove categories and long-term counters; they do not document every objective or the solution to a specific map.
Read the mission as a contract, not only a map
The official campaign description connects decisions with missions, gear and allies. Before deployment, record only what the current briefing actually exposes and use it to frame squad and resource questions.
- Objective: copy the visible success condition without adding an assumed route.
- Failure and extraction: identify any rule the briefing explicitly states.
- Environment: note expected sight lines, cover, elevation and terrain constraints.
- Roster exposure: decide which injury or loss would matter after the mission.
- Campaign consequence: capture visible relationship, contract or access language.
For tactical preparation, connect the briefing to the squad worksheet and the confirmed battlefield systems. The checklist organizes visible information; it does not reveal a hidden optimal solution.
Story-mission extraction changed in 1.0.2: manual extraction is now disabled on story missions. This specific rule does not establish extraction rules for every other mission type. Official 1.0.2 release notes, reviewed September 29, 2026.
Session pacing
The Steam page says a mission can take roughly 25–40 minutes and the difficulty can be tuned from a lighter run to a severe tactical challenge. Treat that duration as the developer’s target, not a guarantee: map, difficulty, squad state and player pace may change the actual time.
Public achievements confirm campaign completion at any difficulty, at Veteran difficulty and in Balls of Steel modes. Difficulty names are verified; this guide does not infer all modifiers from achievement text.
Mission missing, recon stuck or objective destroyed?
These are developer-listed fixes for specific bugs. Compare your installed build, update and retest before treating a blocked objective as a campaign rule.
Update 1.0.2 fixes missing Rescue mission rewards, Joint Operation missions not spawning and specific city-recon bugs. It also adds progress bars for recon operations and covert missions. Compare the current fix-status table; a listed fix is not a guarantee for every save.
| What you see | Released fix | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| A story mission does not appear | Hotfix #6 · August 31: fixes story missions occasionally failing to appear. | Check mission visibility fixes |
| A soldier is stuck on recon, or a city is missing | Hotfix #4 · August 17: recon and missing-city fixes. #5 · August 19: further missing-city fixes. | Check recon and city fixes |
| The explosive objective in a Subversion mission is accidentally destroyed | Hotfix #6 · August 31: fixes accidental destruction of this objective. | Check the objective fix |
If a blocker persists after updating, keep the affected save and record the mission name, objective wording and reproduction steps. Follow the official save/log reporting route.
These notes do not establish a solution for every map or save. Branch maps, hidden objectives and campaign replay rules remain unverified.
